How to start cold plunging without hating it
A gentle on-ramp that builds real tolerance.
Cold exposure is a skill, not a test of toughness. Rushing it just teaches your nervous system to dread it.
Week by week
- Week 1: end your shower with 15–30 seconds of cool water.
- Week 2: drop the temperature, hold 30–60 seconds.
- Week 3+: try a plunge or cold tub at 10–15°C for 1–3 minutes.
Focus on slow nasal breathing. If you're gasping, it's too cold or too long. Consistency beats heroics.
