Electrolytes, demystified
Water alone isn't always enough.
When you sweat — in a sauna, a workout, or a hot day — you lose more than water. You lose sodium, and smaller amounts of potassium and magnesium.
Drinking only plain water can actually dilute what's left, which is why you can chug water and still feel foggy and crampy.
Simple fix
- Add a pinch of salt or an electrolyte mix to one of your daily waters, especially on sauna days.
- Eat potassium-rich foods (banana, potato, leafy greens).
- Don't overthink it — most people just need a little sodium back.
